What is the DUTCH test?
DUTCH stands for Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones. Instead of a single blood draw that captures one moment of your day, four simple samples are collected across a full day, and together they tell the whole story: not only how much of each hormone you have, but how your body produces, processes, and balances them over time.
Samples are analyzed by Precision Analytical in the United States, using the most advanced measurement technologies in the field (GC-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS).
And this is not just any test: it is the very test Shira writes about and teaches in her book, The Moon Within.
What does the research say?
- Published validation studies show strong agreement between dried urine and accepted methods: Newman & Curran 2021 found ICC>0.90 in 14 of 17 metabolites between the four-sample method and full 24-hour collection.
- For cortisol: ICC 0.99 between dried and liquid urine, with a matching daily pattern (Newman 2020).
- For estrogen and progesterone: good agreement with serum and 24-hour collection, ICC>0.95 (Newman 2019).
